Final Project

In my final project I will be making lesson plans for an entire private pilot course. These plans will be designed to allow the student the ability to grasp the entire concept of each chapter. What they will be required to do is read over the lesson plan, and watch a video that will be linked. The lesson plans will be in coordination with our text book. Additionally all lesson plans will be approved by the FAA as a teaching aid.

Screen Recordings

I believe that screen recordings will be a good resource when it comes to the topics that I teach. Aeronautics can be hard to understand. I guess in aviation the tip points are hard to capture. Last year i was able to get our text book open pdf format. With this new knowledge that I gained today, I can now open the book and discuss what it is that I am trying to teach. I believe that this will allow the students to get more interaction with the concepts that i want them to know.

When looking at Flikr I believe that there could be good use in this site. First like i said in the class blog, Flikr would open the door to more communication. It will allow the parents to become connected with the class, and likewise with the kids. With this said I stumbled upon an app toady on my cell phone. When I was working on this unit I received a call. After the call was complete I hit the app button on my phone and came upon the Flikr app. This is cool. Not only can I access my pictures on my computer, I can now access then on my phone. I feel that pictures provide good communication within a group. I am now implementing this within my class. Cool stuff

You Tube

Aerodynamics. The video link below is a fantastic video in that it shows a fantastic illustration of the basic aerodynamic concepts of aviation. I would like each of you to view the video. I feel that the visual aspects will be of good help in understanding what the aircraft is doing in flight.

In conclusion I would like each of my new applicant students to view each video. Each of these links provide a good brief look at the main chapters of study. Again the links provided are the ground surface start for you as a student pilot. As we continue our training there will be more chapters and greater in depth study to come. Thanks Josh

Podcasting in the classsroom

Hi there this post is in regards to how I might use podcasting within my class. First I would like to start off by saying that my class room is totally non conventional. I teach people to fly, and this is generally a hobby for them, not a requirement. This forces me to be creative in a way that keeps there attention inline with the requirements. So many times I find that my students have a hard time listening to my lectures because of work constraints. Podcasting will eliminate that debt on them. I believe that I could take podcasting, and apply my lectures to a wiki. This would benefit them in that they could listen to my speech on there own time. In fact it would also be nice in that if they have a misunderstanding, they could rewind the podcast and listen again. I believe that it would not only save time for the student, it would also take weight off my shoulders as well. Here are some links that I found to be handy in learning the benefits of podcasting.

School Internet policies, and safety

No my school does not do blogs. Maybe in the future we could utilize it for questions in our ground school flight sessions. We do how ever block many social networking sites. Face book, my Space, and off campus email servers cannot be accessed with school computers. Like I said earlier blogs have a great potential within our school. I feel that I could make a case in that blogs would allow our students to keep in touch with me, and other students, through the use of blogs.

Internet Safety

1. My views on internet safety is extremely conservative. I don't preview many unwanted pages, nor do I purchase from companies that feel invalid. I know this sounds strange, but I try to stay with retail chains, and watch out for spam email. I never open up my spam I just simply delete the email. I have never ran into an issue before, So I am keeping my fingers crossed for a successful future,
